‘Candle Camp’ Provides Fun, Inclusive Experience

This summer, the STAR Studio partnered with our friends and neighbors at the City of Naples Parks and Recreation’s River Park Community Center for an exciting inclusion opportunity in our shared home of the Naples Design District.

Over five weeks, 40 campers from River Park’s inclusive summer camp walked down the street to the studio for a lesson in candlemaking—a “candle camp” led by our very own STAR Studio assistants, Hannah K., Taylor C. and Liv D. The campers learned the steps of the craft, asked insightful questions and went home with personalized travel tin candles of their own making.

“This partnership is fantastic! It allows our campers to experience something that they have never done before. It also allows them a glimpse into what some of their friends may have the opportunity to do when they are older. It also is great to have the STARability participants help facilitate the experiences. It is really a win-win for all,” says Lynn Clarke, Recreation Supervisor for River Park/Anthony Park, Community Services Department.

Thank you, River Park, for facilitating this wonderful experience for our participants to demonstrate leadership and share their abilities while celebrating the abilities of your campers.
