Employer Spotlight: BCB Homes

The STARability Foundation is like a matchmaker for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and employers who believe in an inclusive workplace. As an approved provider for the Florida Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), we offer job readiness services and connect individuals with local employers and job training sites.

Brett C. is a participant in our vocational training-centered Trailblazer Academy and has been an Office Assistant at BCB Homes for over a year and a half now. BCB Homes is a respected luxury homebuilder and one of STARability’s many inclusive employment partners in Collier County.

“Brett’s eagerness to get started as he walks through the door is infectious. He tackles his duties with determination and pride. We are proud to have him here at BCB Homes. He is an inspiration and an important part of our team.” – Kathy Seybold and Erica Meile, BCB Homes.

Among Brett’s responsibilities in his job are preparing brochures and packets, organizing manuals and binders, putting address labels on envelopes, uniform inventory and more.

“Brett loves working at BCB Homes,” says his mom, Carrie Cooney. “It gives me great pride to see him work there. Brett is a hard worker and has grown so much in his personal life, all because of Trailblazers and BCB Homes.”
