STARability is like a matchmaker for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and employers who believe in an inclusive workplace. As an approved provider for the Florida Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), we offer job readiness services and connect individuals with local employers and job training sites.
Tom C. is a participant in our Trailblazer Academy and is a Kennel Pack Member at Pampered Pets. Pampered Pets is Naples’ premier daycare, boarding and training facility. It is also one of STARability’s many inclusive employment partners in Collier County. Tom started at Pampered Pet Resort back in September and is thriving! His responsibilities include refreshing water bowls for the animals, picking up spills, washing dishes (doggy bowls!) and more.
“We initially connected with Pampered Pets when they sponsored an event, and we continued to keep up with them for potential opportunities,” said STARability Vocational Services Manager, Halley Kretschmer. “Thomas’ work experience and love of dogs made him the perfect candidate! He has been working hard to learn his routine and get to know his coworkers.”
