Employer Spotlight: Stofft Cooney Architects

STARability Foundation is like a matchmaker for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and employers who believe in an inclusive workplace. As an approved provider for the Florida Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), we offer job readiness services and connect individuals with local employers and job training sites.

Matt M. is a participant in our vocational training-centered Trailblazer Academy and has been an Office Assistant at Stofft Cooney Architects for two and a half years now. Stofft Cooney Architects is one of the most sought-after residential, commercial and resort architectural firms in Florida and around the world. They are also one of STARability’s many inclusive employment partners in Collier County.

Matt has blossomed in his position at Stofft Cooney Architects and continues to demonstrate a hard-working work ethic everyday he is here. He works so hard that I often notice sweat beading up on his forehead, but it never phases him, as he believes that hardwork is the standard and he thrives off of the tasks he completes every day he’s in the office. – Jennifer Haire, Stofft Cooney Architects.

Among Matt’s responsibilities in his job are making sure the kitchen, conference rooms, restrooms and lobby are clean and presentable to the public as well as stocked with supplies.

“Today, he’s a very independent and self-reliant individual whom is now comfortable enough to call co-workers friends, take on new tasks without hesitation and enjoys taking selfies with the associates during lunch breaks. He’s truly passionate about his job and a role model for others in the office that work alongside of him. We are lucky to have him as part of the SCA family and look forward to watching him continue his growth within the firm,” said Jennifer.
