Meet Our Patrons Dining for the STARs

Chuck and Allison Rainey

Chuck and Allison Rainey have lived in Naples since the early 1990s and have two boys, Conner, 19, and Caleb, 15. Chuck is a partner in the local construction company BCB Homes, and he has been with the company for over 25 years. While Chuck’s passion may be construction, Allison’s is children and philanthropy. Allison taught kindergarten and first grade for seven years, and her passion remains helping children. She was a founding member of the Guild at the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples and started the Shawn King Scholarship at Barron Collier High School. Allison is also a member of the annual STAR Gala committee.

 

Gordon and Barbie Kellam

Gordon and Barbie Kellam are strong advocates of the Naples community and are proud to support the STARability Foundation, The Shelter for Abused Women & Children and St. Matthew’s House. Gordon and Barbie enjoy getting out on the water with their family and friends to relax on Keewaydin Island, go fishing or travel up to Boca Grande. Barbie and Gordon live an active lifestyle and are always on the go, creating new memories with their boys.

Jeff Gargiulo and Valerie Boyd

Jeff Gargiulo and Valerie Boyd were inspired by their cousin’s Napa Valley lifestyle and confident that with their help and Jeff’s agricultural knowledge they could achieve their dream and make some of the finest wines in the world. Twelve years later and with countless hours of coaching from Barney and Belle, Jeff and Valerie purchased their first vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley, Money Road Ranch in 1992.

 

 

Dr. Joseph and Merrylee Kandel

Dr. Joseph and Merrylee Kandel have lived in Naples for 32 years. They have three adult children all living in Florida. Their middle child, Hannah Rose, is working part-time at the STARability Foundation office two days a week and at the STAR*Made Studio one day a week. Hannah also participates in the social activities that STARability organizes each month.

John and Carrie Cooney

John and Carrie Cooney have lived in Naples for 30 years. They are the parents of three grown children. Their son Brett was diagnosed with autism in 1996 and epilepsy in 2008. In 2016, Carrie had a vision for a community day program for Brett, who aged out of Collier County Public Schools. The STARability Foundation’s Trailblazer Academy was founded in 2016. Carrie serves on STARability’s board of directors as Vice President and was a recipient of the Association of Fundraising Professional Collier-Lee Chapter’s 2019 Distinguished Volunteer Award. John and Carrie have chaired the STAR Gala and continue to fundraise for the future of STARability.

 

Domenic and Stephanie Lucarelli

Domenic and Stephanie Lucarelli live in Naples and have four children. Domenic, an attorney, worked as a prosecutor for the State Attorney’s office for several years before opening his own firm. He serves on a number of boards, including for the STARability Foundation. Stephanie was a seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher in Fair Haven, New Jersey, and is a guest teacher at Collier County Public Schools. She has also had the pleasure of serving on the District’s Accreditation Committee, the Head Start Policy Council, and as the vice president of the Naples Park PTO.

Kevin Bush and Christa Mangiello

Kevin Bush and Christa Mangiello moved to Naples by way of the Philadelphia area in November 2016. Kevin is a C-suite executive in the managed services space, and Christa is a retired financial advisor of Wells Fargo Private Bank. Kevin and Christa have two beautiful children in the Village School of Naples. Christa is active in the Naples community and passionate about philanthropy and serves on numerous boards of the charities she supports. Christa was moved by the mission of STARability while attending the STAR Gala last year and has devoted her time to helping raise awareness and supporting the mission of the STARability Foundation.

 

Lisa Ficarra

In 2003, Lisa founded Ficarra Design Associates, a full-service luxury interior design firm that is celebrated both for its originality and for its deep connection to the essence of her clients. Outside of her award-winning design career, Lisa and her team have an immense passion for giving back to the local community. Most recently, Ficarra Design Associates was honored to participate in designing a space for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida. Lisa also supports the STARability Foundation, Wellfit Girls, St. Matthew’s House, The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, Hope for Haiti, Guadalupe Center and Path 2 Freedom.

Philip Allen and Lisa Kahn-Allen

Lisa Kahn-Allen loves to serve the vibrant community of Naples, where she lives full-time with her husband, two children, two dogs and many plants. She has volunteered in both of her children’s schools over the years and provided design services to the North Naples United Methodist Church for their campus on Goodlette-Frank Road. She has contributed design services to the David Lawrence Center and is a proud member of the 2021 class of Leadership Collier. Lisa currently serves as president of the board of directors of the STARability Foundation. Just this year, Lisa and her husband, Philip, established a nonprofit organization called the Finding Sanctuary Institute.

 

Lou and Laura Georgelos

Lou and Laura Georgelos have raised millions of dollars and awareness as they advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities. They’ve counseled other parents navigating the everyday path, school system and services involved and enjoy serving on organizations’ boards to help implement change and growth. Laura serves on STARability Foundation’s board of directors. Their daughter, Tori, is a STARability participant.

Marc and Holly Shapiro

Marc and Holly Shapiro have two children, Nathan, 13, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2, and Ariana, 9. Marc is an attorney, and Holly is a paralegal. In 2003, they opened Aries Title, Inc. Holly is passionate about spending her extra time volunteering on various committees for the STARability Foundation and has sat on two committees since June 2019. Currently, she sits on the Advisory Board for House of Gaia, another local nonprofit. She is also a former member of the C’mon! Guild and a PEER parent for families receiving a new diagnosis of autism.

 

Chad and Natasha Commers

Chad and Natasha Commers are excited to be a part of the STARabilty Foundation, because of their shared belief in the life-changing value that kindness and opportunity provide. Both of their lives have been filled with chance opportunities that, when paired with a leap of faith, resulted in meaningful personal accomplishments. Chad and Natasha are excited to play a small role in helping STARablity continue to provide opportunities to those it serves, so that they too can lead a meaningful life.

Mike and Kelly Assaad

Mike, a Naples local, and Kelly, originally from Alabama, have been married over 18 years and are raising their twin children, Cooper and Maddy, in Naples. Mike’s company, Waterside Builders Inc., has built over 120 homes in Naples’ finest neighborhoods. Mike as acted as developer and general partner for multiple single entity LLC’s and a mixed-use building. Kelly is passionate about children, supporting and giving back to her local community. She serves on the board for the
Pan-Florida Challenge. Mike and Kelly care deeply for the STARability Foundation, as they believe the need to raise awareness and offer more services to assist individuals with disabilities locally is long overdue.

 

Tim and Stephanie Savage with Vicki Tracy

Tim and Stephanie Savage have been married for over 20 years and have three children, Timmy, 16, Sarah, 13, and Trace, 10. Tim is the owner and principal of Gulf Coast International Properties and Gulf Coast International Properties Luxury Rentals. In 2015, Tim brokered a record-setting, highest-ever sale price for a single-family home on a single lot in Aqualane Shores. Stephanie is a very busy mother and philanthropist. She is a strong advocate of children’s charities, including JDRF, The Village School, Community School of Naples, YMCA, Hope for Haiti, Gulfshore Ballet and Child Evangelism Fellowship. They also have been become supporters of the STARability Foundation.

Vicki Tracy, Chief Operating Officer of Gulf Coast International Realty, has been in Naples for over 44 years. She is married for over 31 years to local Steve Tracy and has a stepson, Gabe. Vicki is a nationally recognized award-winning sales and marketing professional in real estate and senior living. She is passionate about the community and its people. She has over 30 years of fundraising and board development experience and serves in key leadership roles on many local Board of Directors, specifically for children’s and senior citizen causes.

 

Tom and Laina Kennedy

Tom and Laina Kennedy moved to Naples from northern Virginia seven years ago and have four children—two girls, ages 19 and 18, and two boys, ages 14 and 8. Tom works as the President/CFO of Sixt Car Rental and Laina is the Owner of Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza in Naples. This is their first year to be involved with the STARabilty Foundation, and they are honored to be a small part of such a worthwhile cause.

Paul and Marnette Perry

Paul and Marnette Perry have been married 40 years and have one daughter and two grandchildren they enjoy spending time with each summer in Chautauqua, N.Y. Marnette is recently retired following a 45-year career at the Kroger Company, where for several decades she was the highest-ranking female executive. Paul, a retired attorney, was elected to Naples City Council in 2020. In his position as Naples City Council Member, Paul is on the board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the board of the Naples Art Association. He also serves as liaison to the Public Art Advisory Committee
