Our STAR*Made Studio, located within our STAR Store, has been awarded Naples Florida Weekly’s 2021 The Flamingo award for Best Candlemakers! The Flamingos is Naples Florida Weekly’s annual guide celebrating the people, places and things that make South Florida so special.
STARability participants are hand-pouring small-batch, natural soy candles through the foundation’s social enterprise, the STAR*Made Studio, and selling them at the STAR Store in the Naples Design District. The artisanal process has a place for all abilities to contribute, empowering the candlemakers to creatively express themselves, as well as learn individual tasks and work as a team to achieve a vocational goal.
“Our STARs have grown the candles into a beautiful, professional product line they can be proud of,” says Cayla Childs, Director of Communications & Special Initiatives. “They have become experts at the craft and really enjoy creating it, and they’re also developing and practicing important skills in the process that they then take with them far beyond the studio. We’ve seen such a great response from the community, and we can’t wait to share our next products we’ve been working on.”
