STAR Store Continues to Grow

Participants in the Trailblazer Academy with STAR Store Director Carrie Jo Terry

What a wonderful past few months the STAR Store has seen!

For starters, the store became an official member of the Naples Design District, Naples’ premier creative quarter. STARability is excited to be a part of this up-and-coming community of established and burgeoning businesses.

The store saw a series of exciting events, as well, not the least of which was its grand opening in October! Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered to help make the event such a success. The store also celebrated Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30; took part in the Naples Design District’s annual Holiday Stroll on Dec. 5; and hosted a stop on the popular Thrifting Bus Tours’ Holiday Thrift-a-Thon on Dec. 6. More than 300 people came through the doors during the Holiday Stroll, and 55 more visited during the bus tour.

In the store’s STAR*Made Studio, STARability participants have continued to create beautiful candles for the store, and then some! Participants in the Junior Trailblazer Academy have begun adding to the enterprise, too, visiting the store to make candles once a month. The candles have become the store’s best seller, and the participants even completed seven large custom orders for holiday gifts. The store has sold more than 280 candles to date. Additionally, neighboring business the Garden District has started carrying the mason jar-style candles. And there is more to come: The store will be launching brand-new STAR*Made products later this year.

Please help us continue to spread the word about the STAR Store and STAR*Made Studio. You can learn more about the enterprise at or by following @STARStoreNaples on Facebook and Instagram. And, we are looking for volunteers! To sign up, please contact Store Director Carrie Jo Terry at (store) or Communications & Program Specialist Cayla Childs (STAR*Made Studio) at for more information.
