STARability Board Treasurer Recognized as Distinguished Volunteer

Each year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) pays tribute to individuals and organizations throughout the US that have made a difference in our lives, our communities and our world through philanthropy. This year’s selection committee consisted of Mary Beth Crawford, Cummings & Lockwood; Joann Elardo, Wicked Dolphin; Rufino Hernandez, Garden District; Cole Peacock, Seed and Bean and Scott Robertson, Auctioneer.

On Monday, Nov. 15, STARability Foundation’s board treasurer Ken Gilman was recognized as a Distinguished Volunteer of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Florida Collier-Lee Chapter. There are many STARability participants who have benefited because of Ken and his deep belief in our mission to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As a current member of the STARability Foundation board, he truly cares about our STARs. He believes passionately that they deserve to be included in our community and that they should have every opportunity to develop their abilities and shine light on all they can do.
