What started as six families meeting weekly at a local bowling alley has grown into three STARability Bowling League opportunities for over 100 of our participants. Ask any STAR bowler and they will tell you they never want to miss this fun program.
How did the STARability Bowling League come to be? In 1985, a group of parents were looking for a quality recreational program for their young adult children with developmental disabilities. When they learned that none existed, they decided to create one. These leagues have become a great place for STAR participants and their families to network and form lifelong friendships, in addition to enjoying the other physical and mental benefits of bowling.
STARability’s Bowling League runs year-round, but scores are tracked only in season, October through June. (To qualify for a trophy at the annual Bowling Banquet, participants must bowl at least 15 days during season when scores are tracked.) Our three bowling coordinators Stacy Bolesky, Kathy Crevier and Diane Van Horn help run three fun leagues across two different locations, and participants can join at any time during the year.
Bowling is open to all STARability participants.
